The month of abundance of Ramadan, continues to pass with great fervour in Ümraniye. Thousands of residents flow to the Ümraniye Square for the events organised.
The Municipality of Ümraniye continues with its events starting from Thursday night, the 18th of June, and continuing on for the rest of the month of Ramadan. A wide range of academics and artists will meet with the residents; from performances of traditional music and poetic arts to rich chats and recitations of the Qur'an. In this context, the performance given before iftar on Sunday June 21st., inspired by Traditional Turkish Theatre, was watched with great interest by those from Ümraniye and its neighbouring municipalities. During the Traditional Turkish Theatre performance, figurines made by drawing people, animals and objects on leather and cardboard and engraving them, were show in plays through shadows and watched with great interest. During the performance, children in the hall were invited upon stage and also participated in the performance.
After iftar, the events continued with Qur'an Recitation done by Mahmut Sağır and Ahmet Kayacı. Later on, Ahmet Taçoğlu's divine hymn concert continued into the night. As always, there was a lot of interest in stands of other municipalities by those wanting to learn about their cultures.
